Saharan dust was abundant in the atmosphere the night I chose to paint the moonrise over Mosquito creek near Beach Road. That, and the color of my headlamp, is why this painting and a subsequent study came out in such warm tones. The effect was quite different the next night.

An added challenge on this warm, humid night was trying to discern the colors I was mixing on my dimly lit palette while my view was impaired by a very necessary mosquito head net.
