Old House Creek, named for Quash’s house, provided access to LSSI in the 19th century. I chose this historic location as a place to paint due the recently erected tin roof that protects the tabby ruins and provides shelter to anyone caught in the rain along Old House Trail. I got soaked getting there and naturally it stopped raining as soon as I set up under the shelter, but I was glad to have a chance to try to capture the moisture-laden atmosphere over the marsh. The view to the north spoke to me the most, framed as it was by Spanish moss and cedars.
