During a short break from my first, and larger painting of the evening (it was getting muddy and it needed to set up a little) I did this quick study to evaluate how the light had changed since I began the first one, about 30 minutes prior. The forest was almost dark and everything was closer in value, except the sky. There were still a few lighting bugs.
