Went to a friend’s property to try paint fireflies but they were much diminished by a recent storm. It was challenging to try to understand the colors and values of the forest interior at twilight when the light fades so fast and the warm color of the candle or headlamp distorts perception. Bugs attracted to my lights were also a challenge. Summer nights in southern woodlands are magical.
