It’s a rare thing to see such a long view in a Southeastern woodland, and especially rare to see such an expanse of heliophytic groundcover! This would have been a common sight in the historic woodlands and savannas of the Black Belt region, as well as in much of the Southeast. Excellent stewardship made it possible for me to paint this rain-drenched scene.
