Oil on canvas
9 x 12 in. (22.9 x 30.5 cm)

Private collection

On the morning of the 18th, I set out to once again observe the island’s muhly grass in its peak bloom, asking of the experience—just what color is this stuff? Two paintings of about 45 minutes each were produced, both portraying the same general patch of vegetation. See Before Sunrise.

Painted on location. Canvas mounted to hardboard.
