Big views of the Mississippi River Valley and late season prairie flowers were exactly what I was hoping to find after a steep climb to the “goat” prairies—technically sand hill prairies—of Hanover Bluff. To feature them, I eventually selected a view to the north in which the tilted foreground of goldenrods, asters, and little bluestem leads to the next hillside prairie. Hands-on management such as tree removal is required to maintain the nature of this Preserve.
Painted on location.
