Espeletia grandiflora, also called frailejon, is a signature species of the high elevation páramo in Chingaza National Park. Their coarse array of stout leaves, covered with fine silver hairs, nicely complements the warm color and soft texture of the surrounding calamagrostis grass.
This is one of four medium sized studio works in a series that explores the subject of Chingaza páramo.
