Páramo above the Rio Guatiquía

Chingaza National Park, Colombia
Oil on canvas
30 x 48 in. (76.2 x 121.9 cm)

Private collection

Above the cloud-filled canyon of the Guatiquía River in Chingaza National Park, a tall species of frailejon (espeletia uribei) rises like minature palm trees above the coarse grasses, bamboo, and shrubs that dominate the páramo as it transitions to the cloud forest below.

This is one of four medium sized studio works in a series that explores the subject of Chingaza páramo.
