Midday, Summer is an impression of the moment, completed on site at around high noon on a July day at Nachusa. I was attracted to the scene by the view across the open bottomland prairie to the woodland transition on the hills beyond. I was also struck by the dark shadows directly under the trees contrasting with the bright prairie around them.

Painted on location.
