In this early morning view looking north from the north end of Little Saint Simons Island (Sancho Panza Beach), the southern end of Sapelo Island is just visible on the horizon. The distance between this beach and Sapelo Island defines the width of the mouth of the Altamaha River. Painted on location, which was rather chilly, finished in the studio.
